It's funny, but I mostly agreed with FEAR on 4th place (I'd better place it at 3rd or 2nd place, but nevermind). Yes, F.E.A.R. had great AI (even by today standards), mind blowing graphics, effects, animations and decent game mechanics (like fighting, shooting, slo-mo, etc) and first 2 or 3 hours of gameplay were my best game experience of 2005, but after that I quickly realized that the game is quite boring and repetitive – offices, corridors, rooms, warehouses and then some more of offices, corridors, rooms, warehouses and again and again.
Delta Force Black Hawk Down was made in 2003 but to be honest i think it's better than DF extreme.My opinion

I remember when the older call of duty games had combat training as in-game tutorials.
when i played quake 4 i was just taken away by it's graphics and more importantly gameplay.

Honestly Pariah wasn't that good even for its time. Also CoD2 was terrible.
F.E.A.R. was the best out of all of these, but even that one fell apart after the first playtrough.
Amazing gunplay, movement, great A.I. and awesome visual effects and sound design.
Everything else sucked. Barely average level design themed around offices, a bay area, apartment buildings, a small lab area and holy shit SEWERS!!! Boring!
Just 4 enemy types and the story with the BOO! jump scares were lame.
Call of Duty 2 is the best game of 2005
I'm shocked to see that Timesplitters: Future Perfect isn't on this list. Easily one of the best FPS games of all time.
